1st Court of Honor for 2010

MY COMMITTEE MEMBERS
EVERYONE IN THE WARD THAT'S BEEN TO WOODBADGE..Something I will do in the future

2010 BSA Centennial Activities Presentation given by John Gailey from the Council
March 14th was our ward's Court of Honor for the 11 year olds, Scouts, Varsities, and the Venturing Scouts. Since this was our first for the year as the committee chair, I thought it would a neat experience for the boys and parents with it being the 2010 BSA Centennial year that we could get someone from the scout office come and give a special presentation on 100 years of scouting and all the activities that the boys can be apart of this year. John Gailey is a friend that I worked with that already had an awesome presentation made up and said he would come. The day before I was driving around in a snow storm passing out invatations to parents so they could come and support their boys and hear all the things their boys can do this year. We have great leaders in our ward that take so much time for these boys already so I thought parents that knew what was going on, they can help push their boys and be apart of something great!!
With being in the council that the freedom festival is in, our council gets to be apart of some of the events that take place. Like for the Stadium of Fire all the boys that get their Eagle in 2010 can be apart of being in the largest Eagle Court of Honor ever!! How cool is that?? Oh how I wish Brayden could be apart of this great history of scouting, then turn back into my cute like 4 1/2 year old. Also the boys can be in the big 4th of July parade in Provo and so many other things to do. If you want more info go to the council websit www.utahscouts.org. The video that was show was pretty cool. Found out that we were the first to see it after it was show at the Washington D.C. Centennial Gala.. Sitting in the back while it was playing, it was a pretty cool feeling watching the boys watch it and then look back to their parents and say, " Mom and Dad, I want to do that!!!" At the end John said something to the boys that helped them think. When they get older and they are grandfather's their grandkids are going to know they were apart of the 100 years of scouting and they are going to want to know what they got to do!!! After everyone came to me and said that was the best Court of Honor ever!!!
